Method to grow

Soil : Suited to poorly drained soils. Also grows in wide range of soil types (from sandy to clay soils)

Establishment : By seeds,root slips or stem cutting

Seed rate : 2.5-3.5 kg/ha or 40,000 slips/ha at 50 cm x 50 cm

Fertilizer (maxium) : responsive to nitrogen fertiliser and application after each cut for production

Cuts : 3 - 5 weeks (3 - 4 cuts in a season)

Green fodder yield : 30-40 t/ha in 3 cuts

Nutritive value : Crude protein 14-20% and digestibility 65-80%
